(VietNamNet Bridge)-After two years of “living together with rubbish,” Engineer Lai Minh Chuc from the Hanoi Center for Construction Technology Research and Development, has successfully invented a machine that can classify solid waste by remote control.

The machine has been recognized as superior to foreign made expensive rubbish treatment machines, now used widely in many countries in the world. It allows reducing the labor force in the toxic environment.

The rubbish classification and treatment machine invented by Chuc can treat 150-200 tons of rubbish a day. The machines allows to treat garbage automatically, eliminate specific waste by the remote-control device, automatically distribute the volumes of rubbish to cutting machine after analyzing the types of garbage and the machine capacity. There is a smart cutting equipment enabling to cut the packs, wrap and automatically select suitable types of rubbish that need to be cut into small pieces in accordance with the requirements of classification and recycling technologies.

Also, the machine can shred the organic waste of animal or plant origin, a necessary part of the process of making bacterial fertilizers for agricultural production. It also allows grinding inorganic wastes (brick, stone, glass), or bypass metal and plastic waste, to serve different technologies.

Especially, the rubbish classification and treatment are carried out in a close process, which allows controlling the dispersion of toxic smells, or germs to the environment, eliminate the risk of causing diseases or fire.

These devices are compact, while the efficiency can be integrated in a module area of 20 square meters. The technology enables to reduce 50-70 percent of rubbish volume if compared with the existing technologies. It also allows reducing the time needed for disintegration, thus allowing increasing the productivity of gas output, recovering organic mulch soon.

The outstanding features of the machine invented by Chuc which other machines available on the market do not have is that it can replace 100 percent of manual labor in rubbish classification.

In terms of the electricity used, the machine only consumes the power equal to 30 percent of that at Seraphin factory in Son Tay and the Belgium technology being used in Ha Nam.

According to the Ha Nam provincial Department for Science and Technology, if the research work is utilized in a large scale, with 20,000 tons of rubbish to be treated a day, this would allow to free tens of thousands of laborers from the toxic working environment. Especially, it would help reduce the rubbish classification costs, cut down the expenses to import foreign equipments. Scientists have said they can see the possibility of heightening the efficiency of use and recycling the valuable natural resources, especially when Vietnam still does not have the habit of classifying rubbish at the sources.

Le Minh Chuc graduated from the Hanoi Architect University. In 2008, Chuc decided to resign from the post of researcher at an institute of the university so as to “invest” his time on inventing a smart rubbish classification and treatment.

During the nine months of doing research, Chuc only spent five days on going out, slept four hours a day at maximum. Meanwhile, most of his time was spent on drawings, materials, figures and static electricity.

The rapid urbanization process has led to the increasing volume of waste. The inner city of Hanoi every day has 1600 tons of solid waste , while only 70 percent can be collected, which means that 175,000 tons of untreated waste would go into the environment. In Da Nang City, it’s estimated that 30,000 tons of solid waste and 4 billion cubic meters of untreated waste water is discharged to the environment.
